Tubing

The tubing is required in most breast pump setup. It connects the flange to the breast pump, acting as the pathway of the flowing air generated by the pump.

While double pumping, there might be two individual tubes of same length or three tubes altogether connected to a T-shape (or Y-shape) adapter.

While single pumping, there might be only one tube in use, or a small cap is ready to put on (either port of a pump model or one tube end) to block air path.

In the open system, it is not rare to see condensation in the tubing after pumping. Care needs to be taken to clean the tubing: leave the tubing connected and the pump motor running for extra 5-10 min until the tubing is dried before using the pump again. Keep tubing as dry as possible to prevent the growth of mold.

As to the closed system, the milk normally does not contact the tubing due to the barrier (backflow protector), so to keep the tubing clean is rather easy.

To make breast pumping process freer and more comfortable, Maymom provides longer tubing than OEM ones.
