The duckbill valve is installed onto the base area of a flange. The name comes from its shape which looks like a duck beak. During a pumping cycle, the duckbill valve closes to hold the suction power from the pump and opens to release it and let the breast milk flow into the container.
Maymom has been working on improving the functionality of duckbill valves for years. The current version is quite sturdy with a longer life span.
